Let There Be Lights! December 2020
Langdon Dog Park recently underwent a much needed renovation to include lights for visitors that are at the park during evening hours in the fall and winter. Lights go out at 9pm every night. Enjoy the extended time with your furry friends, and remember to follow Covid safety guidelines.
LPDA Meeting - Monday, January 22nd, Woodridge Library - 7pm
The Langdon Dog Park Association will meet at 7pm tonight to discuss plans for the upcoming year -- lights, improvements to the park, membership, leadership, and other important topics. If you're a regular at the Dog Park, or if you've never been but want to learn more, we encourage you to attend! Everyone is welcome (except dogs, unfortunately...)
Pooch Spooktakular - Saturday, October 24th
Come join in the fun at Langdon Dog Park - parade your costumed pooch and enter him/her into the best costume contest for some fabulous prizes from neighborhood vets, groomers and pet supply shops.
9:30AM - Gather at the dog park for a brief pooch parade
10 AM - Registration for contest and prizes
10:30 AM - Judging starts.
There will be a prize for:
- Cutest costume
- Best dog owner lookalike or paired, e.g. Dorothy and Toto
- Most original
- How did you get your dog to wear that?
There will be treats for you and your four legged friends and tons of fun for all. Meet and greet members of the Langdon Dog Park Association (LPDA) as well as your neighbors.
If there's a steady hard rain, the event will be canceled. Hope we have some good weather that weekend. See you there!
Langdon Dog Park Association Pooch Parade & Contest - Saturday, October 3rd - UPDATE!
Due to bad weather expected for tomorrow 10/3, the Pooch Parade has been cancelled, and Rhode Island Avenue Fall Fest has been moved to a new location: 705 Edgewood Drive NE. We're still deciding on whether or not to hold the dog contest.
Join LPDA for a pooch parade from the dog park (near 20th & Franklin in Langdon Park) to Rhode Island Avenue Fall Fest!
Bring your dog and meet us at the park at 9:30am for the parade through the park and up to Rhode Island Ave. Fall Fest. Can't make the parade? Join us at 10:15am at the Mayflower Cab parking lot (RI Ave. and Jackson) to sign up for the contest.
Once at Fall Fest, you can register your dog to compete for:
Best trick * Most mysterious breed * Most "glam" * Best tail wag * Cutest ugly dog * Dog/owner look-alike
Veterinarian Dr. Dan of District Veterinary Hospital will emcee the contest which begins at 10:30am. Local leaders and dog lovers will be judging the event - and prizes from dog walkers, veterinarians and pet stores will be awarded to the winners!
Bring your pooch out to strut his/her stuff...Take a chance at an awesome prize... Meet members of LPDA... Kick off the fall season with RI Ave. Fall Fest!
CANCELLED - Langdon Dog Park Clean up - Saturday 12/6/14, 9:30AM
(Rain date - January 24, 2015)Please join the Langdon Dog Park Association this Saturday morning for a clean up/weed clearing day at Langdon Dog Park. We need volunteers to come help us keep the dog park safe, clean, and healthy for all our human and canine neighbors. Yappy Hour will follow for our four-legged friends to play together.
Langdon Dog Park is located in the heart of Langdon Park, one of DC's largest(and shadiest!) municipal parks. The address is 2901 20th St. NE. Please consider giving some of your time to the dog park this Saturday.
LDPA members will be on hand with membership forms to register you as a new member.
If possible, please bring your own weeding tools and gloves. We need as many as we can get. Thanks!

Thanks so much to Casey Trees and the community for beautifying Langdon Park by adding 65 new trees! And a special thanks to the neighborhood businesses that generously provided supplies, breakfast and lunch: Buffalo & Bergman, Chipotle, Costco, Flip It, Giant, Golden Skillet, Home Depot, Jersey Mike’s, Little Ricky’s, MGM Roast Beef, Sala Thai, San Antonio, Steel Plate, Today’s Pizza, and Zeke’s.

At 7:30pm on Monday, December 9th, the membership and board of directors of the Langdon Dog Park Association will hold LDPA's final meeting of 2013. Please join us at San Antonio Bar & Grill (3908 12th Street NE).
The board will wrap up the year's business, including the election of next year's board. We hope that 2013 members of the Association will join us - first to vote and then to mingle and chat with your neighbors afterward.

The Langdon Dog Park Association will hold its next membership meeting at 7:30 pm at Langdon Park Recreation Center, 2901 20th Street NE.

General Membership Meeting and Elections - Wed, December 5th
The Langdon Dog Park Association will hold its last meeting of the year on December 5, 2012 at 7 pm at San Antonio Bar and Grill located at 3908 12th Street, NE.
Besides wrapping up the LDPA's business for the year, we will also hold elections for the 2013 board.
All are welcome to attend (but please note that only LDPA members may vote). Hope to see you there!
Fall Clean Up Day
Please join the Langdon Dog Park Association for its rescheduled Fall Clean Up Day at Langdon Dog Park on Saturday, November 10 at 11 am.
We need volunteers with rakes, shovels, and brooms to help us rake the falling leaves and prepare the park for the fall and winter. We hope to see you there with your four-legged friends.
Also, there will be a brief (extremely brief) meeting of the LDPA right before the clean up effort to finalize nominations for board positions for the new year.
General Membership Meeting and Play date - Sat, October 20th
The next meeting of the LDPA will be in the picnic area immediately behind the dog park (so we can keep an eye on our dogs playing inside the park). We will accept nominations for the upcoming board at this meeting and discuss other "dog park business."

After the play date, Flip It Bakery will welcome us and our dogs on their patio for lunch. Flip It is located at 1544 Rhode Island Avenue, NE.
Langdon Dog Park Association Celebrates Brookland's 125th Anniversary!
The Langdon Dog Park Association will march in the celebratory parade down 12th Street, NE with other local organizations on Saturday, September 29th and we invite all dog owners to join us with your pooches.
We will meet at 9:30 AM at the intersection of 10th and Franklin Streets, NE before the parade begins at 10 a.m.
We hope to see you there!
Benches now at Langdon Dog Park!
The Langdon Dog Park Association is pleased to announce that there are now benches at the dog park.
We hope that now that the heat wave is over, you can come enjoy being at the park with your pooch as well as sit down between ball tosses.
We would like to thank all of our members and donors for their financial donations which paid for one of the benches. The other three benches were donated by the following businesses who we would also like to thank and recognize:
Langdon Dog Park Summer Kick-off June 2nd, 11am - 1pm
Please join the Langdon Dog Park Association (LDPA), your neighbors, and their furry pals this Saturday for the park's summer kick off party at the Langdon Dog Park.
The Washington Humane Society will have their adoption van with adoptable animals, as well as information on their programs and services (adoption, fostering, volunteering, spay/neuter, feral cats, cruelty, humane education, etc.). The Washington Animal Rescue League will also be at the park with their truck with adoptable dogs and Dr. Jan Rosen, their medical director, for "Ask the Vet."
Spot on Training will have an "Ask the Trainer" table, and will set up two doggie pools to serve as a doggie cooling station. They will also bring goodie bags with treats, sponsor a "How Many Bones" contest for $25 off a training class, and have material with dog park etiquette tips.
The LDPA is an all-volunteer organization, having no paid staff/board members. Funding is provided by memberships and contributions/donations from the general public. Board members will be on hand at Saturday's event to explain how you can help the park continue to be a success.
Refreshments will be available. Hope to see you there!
Saturday Play dates at the park
Most Saturday afternoons from 3-5 pm, we'll hold a doggie play date at the park. If you're interested in membership and ways you can help the park, a board member will be there with applications and more information. Hope to see you you this Saturday.
The celebration Saturday 9/17/11 was a huge success with lots of folks and their pets from the community showing up and having a great time! Please check back for updates on future events.
